Birch Tree Counseling will transition to telehealth appointments temporarily. National and local health authorities and many insurance and EAP companies are now strongly encouraging telehealth counseling appointments as a preventative measure. Questions about coverage allowed by your plan is best answered by the company that pays for your appointments.

Insurance: Birch Tree Counseling files insurance for

Sanford (including Sanford Medicaid Expansion) and many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.

If you unsure about insurance coverage, inquire with your insurance company giving them my full name: Debberlee Fetting.

Ask your insurance provider:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and how much will I need to pay until it is met?
  • Does my plan limit how many mental health sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician for mental health services to be covered?
  • Is this provider an Out-Of-Network provider? If she is, what percentage of mental health services would be covered?

Self-pay is another option. The session is paid at the time of the appointment with cash, check, credit card, or Health Spending Account (HSA).

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits offered by some companies may be an option. An EAP provides 3 or more no-cost sessions as an employee benefit for individual or couples counseling.
