Birch Tree Counseling in Fargo is a private practice. I'm with clients throughout the day, and may not be immediately available, but will return messages as soon as possible usually within 24 hours.

Counseling appointments are available in-office and online as telehealth therapy. Telehealth is an option for North Dakota and Minnesota residents only. For questions about payment for counseling services, including telehealth options, contact the company that pays for your appointments. Many people have appreciated the opportunity to receive counseling using video technology and find it is a relatively easy and convenient process. A HIPAA compliant telehealth platform with encrypted data stream (AES-256) is used for the connection. Telehealth requires use of video with audio and the best connections are generally made using a computer with an updated operating system.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Insurance: Insurance is filed and accepted for Sanford, Health Partners, and many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.

Questions for your insurance provider:

Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and how much will I need to pay until it is met?
Does my plan limit how many mental health sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician for mental health services to be covered?
Is Deb Fetting, LPCC an In-Network, or Out-Of-Network provider? What percentage of mental health services would be covered?
If I want to file my own insurance claims with Deb as an Out-Of-Network provider how do I do that?
Does my coverage include telehealth visits with this mental health provider? If so, are there limits to the coverage, and does that coverage expire?

Self-pay is another option. The session is paid at the time of the appointment with cash, check, credit card, or Health Spending Account (HSA).

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATES

Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act* (NSA) protects uninsured (or self-pay) individuals from many unexpectedly high medical bills.

If an individual does not have certain types of health insurance, or does not plan to use that insurance to pay for health care items or services, they are eligible to receive a “good faith estimate” of what they may be charged, before they receive the item or service.
If requested, health care providers need to provide patients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This includes the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services and related costs for counseling such as tests and fees.
A new patient-provider dispute resolution (PPDR) process is available for uninsured (or self-pay) individuals who get a bill from a provider that is substantially in excess of the expected charges on the good faith estimate.
